Colin Fry

Spiritualist Medium Rev Colin Fry has sadly passed away.
Went to see him last month, he said he had cancer, was very frail and walking with a stick but still impressive.
RIP

Re: Colin Fry

I read this on FB earlier but it wasn't official. His page also didn't have an announcement, but people had started to leave tributes. They obviously heard about it some other way, maybe through friends/family.

Very sad.

An ex colleague used to love his shows.

RIP Colin, brave to the end.

Re: Colin Fry

Thirty years ago Colin often came to our church. Got paid £20 , lovely humble guy. I would go outside and have a ciggy with him outside the church .

Re: Colin Fry

That's sad, I didn't know he had died. RIP Colin.

Shirley, I have some Gordon Smith books too, along with Stephen O'Brian, Betty Shine, Doreen Virtue and many others, a couple of which have been autographed for me, which was nice. Interesting reading isn't it.

Re: Colin Fry

Well I guess he knows all the true answers now !

Personally I had no time for his 6ixth Sense programmes, they were typical Cold Reading exercises. No matter how skilful a manipulator/cold reader is at his skill (and it very much is a skill), it remains wholly immoral and fraudulent to present that skill as some kind of psychic ability and play with people's minds and emotions, no matter how good the intent.

Derren Brown is likely just as skilful as Colin Fry in this field, but he makes it clear that there is no psychic ability involved and that there are just techniques to learn and master to be able to present something that, to the vulnerable/weak-minded, will appear "other-worldly" or magical.

Cold reading has been going on far too long and really shouldn't be supported at all if it is presented as real. If performed by the likes of Derren with explanation of how it works then fine, that's both educational and entertaining.
