Critics say the NRA is an enabler of gun violence.

New York’s attorney general seeking its dissolution.

Not sure this is a good idea right now might aggravate the situation.

I agree Cinderella.... The issue is the right to bear arms. Well, I bare my arms all the time, and no one complains, except for my flapping angel-wings arms. Grin.

Re: Nra

As we have proved here in the UK and especially in certain parts of England, especially Londump, when guns are criminalised it's criminals that have the guns. The terrible thing is that it's TRUE.

Re: Nra

The NRA is an extremely powerful lobby that gets its funding mostly from the dues of its members who have been convinced that the government is constantly trying to take their guns from them. Corporate donations mostly come from gun manufacturers. As school shootings have increased, the NRA's response has been that we need even more guns to prevent such tragedies, so they work hard to halt any legislation on the types of guns and registration that Americans should have.

This bankruptcy is the result of mishandling money and the arrogance of the upper echelon to use the money to support their extravagant lifestyles and to avoid oversight.

Members are a mix of Libertarians who don't think the government should have any say at all about gun ownership (if you want a tank, then you should have one since someone is always ready to take your land and right from you), people who do think that guns prevent violence and that everyone should be well-trained on them, people with their fingers in the gun-manufacturing industry, and a bunch of knuckle-dragging chest beaters who think that guns make them real men.

It's an eclectic membership, for sure.

Re: Nra

My close friends and family in USA are very pro-firearms and the NRA. Particularly in the South. I'd say it is a contentious issue but but family wouldn't like it.
So, some simple numbers:
USA firearms 12.21 fatalities per 100,000 per year
UK firearms 0.20 fatalities per 100,000 per year

You could say the same about robbing banks; it's only the criminals that do that. Do you think they should legalise bank robbery?

Re: Nra

Wave a gun around in this country and you will get dead very quickly and that is how it should be in a civilised society.

No amount of bleating we do will not change the fact that America does not have a civilised society.

The gun problem in America is an American problem and should be sorted out by Americans.
