Re: Coronavirus: Dominic Cummings visited parents' home while he had symptoms

What are social distancing and self-isolation rules?

22 May 2020

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51506729

As part of the government's ''careful steps'' to ease lockdown measures for England:

Individuals in England are now allowed to meet one other person from outside their household if they stay outdoors. They can also take part in more outdoor activities and exercise as much as they want.

However, people still need to follow social distancing guidance by keeping more than 2m (6ft) apart from anyone they don't live with.

Who am I allowed to meet?

The guidelines in England allow one person to meet someone from outside their household outdoors, as long as they stay more than 2m apart.

It means, for example, they could have a picnic in the park, or play a non-contact sport, provided they observe social distancing.

This only applies to two individuals from separate households, so you would still not be allowed to meet both your parents together.

It also means you cannot have a barbecue in your garden for friends, even if you all stayed 2m apart. And you are still not able to invite people inside your home.

However, anyone who is shielding and has been asked to stay at home should continue to do so.

Can I exercise with other people?

People in England can now take unlimited exercise and play certain non-contact sports like tennis, golf or basketball with one person from outside their household, as long as social distancing is maintained.

However, they are still unable to use areas like playgrounds and outdoor gyms where there is a higher risk of close contact and touching surfaces.

People in England are free to drive as far as they like to outdoor open spaces. But they should not travel to Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, or stay anywhere else overnight, including at a second home.

Dogs can be walked as part of a person's daily exercise

What could the next steps be?

The government is considering whether to allow two households to socialise with each other, provided neither side mixes with other groups.

Known as a ''social bubble'', this would allow more social contact, and an opportunity to share childcare, while hopefully limiting transmission.

It is also looking at ways small weddings could be allowed to take place.

This coronavirus appears to thrive in crowded, indoor spaces which is why pubs, restaurants and many workplaces remain closed and the public has been advised against using public transport.

But transmission of viruses is less likely when ''fresh'' air is involved - and that's usually when people are outside.

What is self-isolation?

If you show symptoms of coronavirus - such as a dry cough and high temperature - you must take extra precautions.

You should stay at home and not leave it for any reason. This is known as self-isolation.

You should not go out even to buy food or medicine, and instead order these online, or ask someone to drop them off at your home.

You can use your garden, if you have one.
So, another, similar, Cummings "trip" would still be breaking several of the "relaxed" rules.

Why are you making such a remark? The rules/law on self isolation are explicitly clear

Cummings wife had convid-19 but yet they travelled to his parents. This is in clear breach of the rules. There is nothing 'obsessional' about it, people are pointing out that he clearly broke the rules and people are defending him for it.

It's obsessional because instead of a short criticism at most of even a discussion some seem to be out for his head on a pike. It's been the same with Ms Patel. It's unhealthy.

Dominic Cummings defends 260-mile lockdown trip

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52782913

The PM's top aide Dominic Cummings says he did the "right thing" by travelling 260 miles to be near relatives during the coranavirus lockdown - adding that he did not care what it looked like.

Mr Cummings told reporters he "behaved reasonably and legally" when asked about the trip from London to Durham.

Asked whether it looked good, he said:
"Who cares about good looks? It's a question of doing the right thing. It's not about what you guys think."

Yep, he doesn't care about good looks .....

I wonder if he's still contagious .....

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...own-a-timeline

Writing about her husband’s condition, Mary Wakefield said: “Dom couldn’t get out of bed. Day in, day out for 10 days he lay doggo with a high fever and spasms.”
I believe that would entail a bedpan service ..... or maybe nappies .....

Well it is a thread about Dominic.

Someone at the centre must have it in for him given this has been released so long after the event.

Re: Coronavirus: Dominic Cummings visited parents' home while he had symptoms

25 April 2020

Dominic Cummings' wife was afforded BBC Radio 4 airtime to say how 'extremely kind' the maverick Downing Street adviser is, sparking fury amid allegations of over-stepping his brief.

Mary Wakefield, the commissioning editor of The Spectator, used an available slot to recall the couple's recent battle against coronavirus.

The decision to allow the journalist to wax lyrical about her husband while he is under fire for attending the government's SAGE group of scientists raised eyebrows on social media.

A list of names leaked to the Guardian revealed Mr Cummings - already a controversial figure for his role in the Vote Leave campaign - had attended a Sage meeting on March 23. His presence and that of data scientist Ben Warner, who also worked on the Vote Leave campaign, caused outrage in many quarters for fear politics could be affecting the quality of the resulting advice.

Sage is intended to provide technical and scientific advice and remain strictly politically neutral during national crises.
I wonder if he told them "It's a question of doing the right thing. It's not about what you guys think." .....

As far as I'm concerned he did what any parent would have done under the circumstances. It was a necessity and he took the precautions he needed to.

Its ok for militant lefties to assemble in Hyde Park and have a protest though and the police and the public to ignore government advice by partying on Westminster Bridge each Thursday for the NHS. Yeah thats fine ....

You won't win on here Annie, some folk don't want to admit that this shower of a government and the bumbling blob that "runs" it are doing anything wrong as they voted for them.
Sad really.

This country's is a mess and they caused it.
