Fine by me, thinks I, as I've never had a Paypal account and never will trust online shopping.

Just the other day a friend of mine in Canada had ordered online which was paid for by credit card. On phoning the company because the item hadn't been delivered, she was told that they didn't ship to Canada, even though they'd accepted the order but, on her first discussion with customer services, she was told that they did!

So my friend rang her bank and the credit card company, and got the money refunded.

Nope, I don't trust the internet with these things and prefer to buy from a shop using my direct debit card.
Now I am more worried about using my debit card in shops, had ours cloned when we were on holiday a couple of years ago it was only when we got back we found someone in Lincolnshire had been on a bit of a spree with the card they had copied. Never had that happen on line where we always use paypal or guaranteed safe sites.

I agree with your feelings too. I have never had trouble with paying on line and I have been doing it for over a decade now.

Re: Paypal service

Sort of what we have already said it's great for buying but bad for receiving money. When you receive money they hold it for a while so you can't get at it and they charge like a wounded bull for you to get payments. If you are not a seller and are just buying you don't pay anything.

Also better to register a credit card with them and let them have your phone number etc or they will only give you a limited account which stops a lot of activity.

Re: Paypal service

We use a debit card too but if you link a credit card to the account they seem to trust you more,

Re: Paypal service

Seem to think when I set up paypal, had to give details of my bank, they then paid in 2 small payments of coppers, and then had to tell them what those amounts were.

This may help to reassure you, and to say we only pay by debit card, I don't have a credit card.
