Neither have I - it seems that it was "invented" in the early 1980's .....

I thought it was a mis-spelling of ‘bumbler’

There is nothing like a good bimble now and again. And - they can't touch you for it.

Mainly used by the military, .....Para’s tab ...Marines Yomp..I bimbled, I was never in a hurry to get anywhere dangerous, I worked onthe theory that if I bimbled it would have all calmed down by the time I got there and everyone could stop for tea.

It was used back in the 70’s...
Ossifer: ‘Take the chaps for a bimble Sgt Major ‘

Me: ‘Roger that boss’

Me: ‘ Right lads...see that tree over there?,
?

Troops....’errr yes..the one about a mile away?’

Me: ‘ That’s the one, I want you to run faster than a thousand startled gazelles to yonder tree and bring me back a leaf..each...off you go!’

Troops: ‘wooooosh’

Me: ’ Boss, the lads are bimbling’

Ossifer: ‘Good show Sgt Major, cup of tea?’

Re: Are You A Follower Or, A Leader?

I heard the word bimble when I was a small child. My father used it quite a lot and he was in the forces. I like the word bimble and I like to bimble. Bimbling is good for you and best practiced in like-minded company, although lone bimbling is quite enjoyable on occasions.

Re: Are You A Follower Or, A Leader?

When I was in my thirties and forties I ran fast and was a leader but now I'm almost in my seventies and I'm a follower. Can't keep up with the young spunks anymore....

Ultra distance running is a very lonely pastime though and sometimes you're not sure if you are in the front or at the back....
