Sheltered accomodation

So the 'nasty party' is now encouraging (???) the building of sheltered accomodation.

Really ???

After failing dismally on their promise to build 100,000 new homes by 2020, who now is going to pay for this 'wonderful new idea (?) of building sheltered accomodation (?) Where will they find the land to do so (building on green-field sites is a no, no), Where is the money to build these homes to come from, given that yet again central government have cut back on the local government precept so no councils have the money for this ambitious scheme.

Typical 'nasty party' - full of empty promises and platitudes!!!

Re: Sheltered accomodation

I suppose the future thoughts on this are that the coffers will swell once we are away from the EU and stop payments into that god almighty black hole.
So this would be my guess as to were the money will come from.
Its a good idea maybe not an original Conservative one but good all the same.
I would not moan to much about it being a Labour idea because we all know that Labour are just full of false promises much like past Conservative governments infact I would tar them both with the same brush.
I just hope that there is some kind of overseer to make sure these homes are built correctly with the needs of the elderly taken into consideration and at a low cost rental.

Re: Sheltered accomodation

I haven't heard this specific piece of news relating to Sheltered Housing. Did they definitely say that they were looking to build Local Authority SH? I'm living in a small bungalow on a private SH estate. It's great. No need to worry about the garden, which was my main reason for moving here and there's always something going on in the Community Room, but I don't use it (don't feel old enough yet) a I spend the majority of my spare time at the gym. What I do use, and what I'm so delighted with is the launderette. Huge industrial size washers and dryers.

Re: Sheltered accomodation

It's a good idea but I fear it'll be out of reach for many who won't be able to afford it. I doubt it will be affordable on a basic state pension.

That's where all the NHS money goes to. Paying off debts

By October 2007 the total capital value of PFI contracts signed throughout the UK was £68bn, committing the British taxpayer to future spending of £215bn over the life of the contracts. By 2010 it had reached £267billion.
NHS hospitals owe £80 billion. Paying about £2billion per year.

I hope it isn't via PFI. Another grave digging competition !

Hi

UJ view of Politics.

The Socialist Utopia which is Venezuela.

The biggest Oil Reserves in the World, no toilet paper, no sanitary towels and kids dying because of a lack of basic medicines.

Vote Corbyn, you know it makes sense.
