I'm inclined to agree, Trump was their last hope. However disarming the police over there is 100% plus going to make matters very much worse.

Perhaps not, but it does reduce their numbers, one by one!

And we must realise that America is a unique country, rather like the Wild West as it used to be called.

Strange, though, how no other country which has gained its independence from the British Empire has deteriorated into a cesspit where everybody wants to shoot everybody else dead.

If the police do nothing, nothing can be done, unless individuals take it upon themselves to do their own unlawful policing.
Unlikely, too cowardly they might get hurt.

Doubt that would last long and achieve nothing, except arrest.
