You didn't expect our government to publicly announce that the speech was false when they can pay a bunch of tech knobs to do it and then deny any knowledge if Putin actually did say that...Isn't that how our government works these days?

By the way I came across something very similar last year where an Italian disease specialist video was subtitled with completely fake news. It was apparently making out he was denying Covid in Italy was as bad as it was made out to be. It was completely false of course. Takes advantage of the fact that people don't bother to check or can't speak the language. The video subtitles contradicted every research paper, newspaper quote and interview that this professor had submitted or given to Italian media. It was a real eye opener as to how fake news works.Someone here also posted an apparently official extract from Covid research (I think this was about young people), which when you googled the first part it revealed that they had reproduced part of a research result faithfully but then doctored the rest of the text to suit the political message of covid denial. The post ended up being deleted for whatever reason as the poster was some sort of spammer I think but again it was a real insight as to how easy it is to twist the truth and how people will believe it if they see in in writing.
