I'm sorry, Todger, but I don't consider you a reliable witness. What you present is mostly the external organs of the Dingo.

Takes advantage of the fact that people don't bother to check or can't speak the language. The video subtitles contradicted every research paper, newspaper quote and interview that this professor had submitted or given to Italian media. It was a real eye opener as to how fake news works.

Someone here also posted an apparently official extract from Covid research (I think this was about young people), which when you googled the first part it revealed that they had reproduced part of a research result faithfully but then doctored the rest of the text to suit the political message of covid denial. The post ended up being deleted for whatever reason as the poster was some sort of spammer I think but again it was a real insight as to how easy it is to twist the truth and how people will believe it if they see in in writing.
Yes I totally agree with you Annie, but I also think the government or 'The Establishment' are also subject to posting fake news, in fact I'm sure they do, to ensure the people give the reaction that they want. Obviously they are not going to sign it 'The Government' are they....

The fake news our government and establishment give out is kindergarten level compared to that which comes out of Russia, Foxy. We are only playing at it. Although theirs would only be believed by kindergarten Kinder.

Over here news is suppressed or muted rather than twisted. You may get a fluffy story about a birthday or wedding instead of what is being hushed up. Plus search engines tend to hide a lot if you use that as they seem to highlight what is going to have more clicks. Online news in general is poor. I'm sure having a free press is a thorn in the side of any establishment. The underlying pressure to move people to apps and mobile phone control is crystal clear. It's insidious frog in cold water stuff.

over there everyone knows whats going on though because they are used to it always being that way. Over here it's subtle and most people believe the media. Others make up conspiracies about the media. Others make up videos or memes and circulate them. It's chaotic. The only way you know what's really going on is if you speak to someone involved yourself.

The only news I ever hear is from BBC radio. The BBC is run by human beings, so there is bound to be some bias -unconscious or otherwise- but they can hardly be accused of being in cahoots with the government. The are at loggerheads with them most of the time.

That's OK - I'm obviously biased for a variety of reasons. For one thing my family associations, for another I like Russia, especially the Northern region but stopping short of Siberia! OK for a long weekend but that's about all. Same with JAO. Bit too far in the sticks.

What I will repeat though is that the MSM mostly present a totally distorted picture about Russia and also about Vlad and how the guy in the street feel about him ---- he likes him.

I do realise, Todger, that we have to make a distinction between the people of a country and its government. I don't know what Russian people are like, so I wouldn't make any assertions about them. Putin, on the other hand, is a ruthless, power-hungry tyrant. Even if we discount 90% of what we hear about him, that is still obvious.

And to say that we demonise him doesn't really wash. After some of the stunts he's pulled, we would be fully justified in imposing the most extreme sanctions we can get away with -whatever they might be . But we don't. We just make feeble complaints, which Putin probably forgets about as soon as he's stopped laughing.

The situation with China isn't much different.

I see no noteworthy stunts that Putin has pulled that even come close to those pulled by Western powers, especially America.

Tell ya what - how about spelling out a couple of Putin's "stunts"?
