Re: Are you OCD?

Whilst I like to stick to my daily routines as much as possible, more so now I am older, I don't go too crazy if they are upset.

Everything has to be organised and everything has a place and has to be in place from the bed linen and towels in the airing cupboard all facing the same way to the shopping on the conveyer belt in the supermarket which has to be in its own 'group'.

I always get in the car then out again to check the door is locked.
I can leave dirty dishes around they have to be washed and put away ASAP.
Meg....you are my kind of woman !

Re: Are you OCD?

Not for me really ,but for my eldest son who is an Aspie growing up and now he has had various OCD type rituals in his life.
Even now he wont touch untensils if someone else has touched them,he wont eat from a plate someone else has touched, his bedroom is "just so" and I dont go in unless im invited in. He WILL know if even the smallest item has been moved even an inch.
Its just something ive always lived with so I dont make any big deals of it now but others have a problem with it .

Re: Are you OCD?

I suppose I have a mild tendency for this.

When I load the dishwasher I have a preferred place for plates, cups, glasses etc. When Mrs M sometimes puts odd items in the ‘wrong’ position I will move them to the ‘right’ position – when she isn’t around, of course.

My son has Asperger's and is totally the opposite.
I dare not go in his room for fear of contamination

He also questions every rule, home or law of the land and has to know how things work.

Re: Are you OCD?

OH and I are both self-admitted OCD when just about to go on holiday.

We'll check and recheck - tickets, passports, money - before we leave the house. We'll confirm with each other that we have seen tickets passports money go into the car. If the bag they are in is within my reach I will open it and look - tickets, money, passports - a couple of times en route. If the bag is in the boot Mr DM will quite understand if I ask him to pull over at the next convenient spot, so I can do another check
*sigh*
It's very silly and quite unnecessary.
I feel sorry for people who have a much more general, life-affecting, OCD

Re: Are you OCD?

Crumbs, I´m completely paranoid about them. My work surfaces have to be crumb free. I also like to have things put back where they came from, unfortunately Mr Clumsy is the most untidiest man I have ever known (comes from living with his mother too long), he never puts anything away and then it´s always my fault when he can´t find what he´s looking for. I´ve given up on being "immaculate" an untidy Mr Clumsy and a little dog who leaves doggy toys all over the house put a stop to that. My house is clean but rarely as tidy as a show house.
