I think we were all stunned yesterday, regarding this tragedy and I am sure that we all share the grief and anger those people who are suffering. For those who died we can give no further help, but for the survivors I think there should be good counselling. How many will have a fear of living in flats again, but in London some may have to?
How many will be able to easily fall asleep, with the fear that they may not wake in the event of another fire?I know it is a big job to find accommodation and provisions for these people, but I also hope that there is good mental aftercare too... because they won't forget this in a hurry!

Twinks, I shouldn't think there's anyone living in a high rise block anywhere in the country who isn't desperately worried for their safety now and terrified to go to sleep.
No doubt smoke alarms will be sold out today...

What a joke this repulsive individual is, how hypocritical...the poorest in our society are now dear to her?

We stuffed a shitty tower block full of immigrants, the poor and the least powerful in one of Britain’s richest boroughs, and then turned it into a Roman candle. It is a just punishment that so many of us were forced to watch it burn. Penitence for our sins.
We deserve to feel bad. I feel bad. We are just down the hill from the posh places where perfect mums push prams around homes too big for the souls inside.
We have gone very wrong.
Instead of fixing a problem we hid it behind cladding apparently so flammable it went up like tinder.
Instead of listening to worried residents, who predicted all this would happen, we ignored them until it did.
Quite simply, the people at risk weren't important enough, weren't connected enough. They had no voice and no power. Many were in homes provided by the council.
I can hear myself saying: you have to be grateful for what you are given; beggars can't be choosers. I thought I was a hard capitalist.
Well you never know, maybe this is the newly converted Saint Katie, spokeswoman for the poor and needy? Yeah right...

I normally have no time at all for Katie Hopkins.
In this instance I believe that she is spot on.
The anger needs to remain, a determination not to let this drift off to a sea of committees, recommendations in the hope that time will make us forget.
We deserve better from those we elect to govern us and to those who we pay so much to get the job done.

I hate journalists who feel it is alright to attack wealthy people to make their point about poor people who suffer. Many wealthy people do a lot to help the poor so she should not have attacked them... maybe to further her career as a socialist journalist!
