You might not - each key individually lights up giving a very even glow - it definitively makes typing easier for me. I like the force-touch on the trackpad, too, which brings up the dictionary and wonder how I managed before.

Me too .... I put a crank handle in the side of mine to crank it up.. when the mouse's tail twizzles I know I'm good to go.
