Looking at other planets is nice.

But, would that not make us immigrants there?

Others might look at plundering the planets, for the resources out there.

They might not be so happy if the others invaded ours.
Especially if we are that resource Ted?? 😁😁

How sad that those left behind will become the victims of the damage all this space travel will cause
Why would anyone want to live on Mars ?

Re: So, we think we are so important ?

The Supreme Unimportance of Man was how one well known astronomer described it. It does give you some perspective and the questions it poses are interesting to say the least: How did it all begin and how/when will it end? Was someone from out there responsible for starting life here on Earth? Did that someone start life on other planets? Does life exist on other planets or are we all alone? Will we still be on Earth when the sun goes out? Or, will we have become extinct? Will we have managed to be able to leave home and travel the vast distances to the stars to set up a new home?

One thing is certain. If we stay here our species dies.

Not to worry. The closest star is Proxima Centauri, a distance of 4.24 light years away. With our current technology, it would take 81,000 years to reach it.

There are literally dozens of pretty far fetched theories that might reduce that time but we are still talking about hundreds of generations of humans.

Assuming that there are aliens who wanted to travel to earth, they would face the same problem of space travel as us.

Did someone mention the moon as a place that is safe from human exploitation? Well think again https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-sp...-idUKKBN22H2S1

Because our species are explorers. Since time immemorial man has challenged the unknown and often dying in the process.

The quest for knowledge is ultimately more important then even our very lives.

But what if there is life on other planets? After all, you did post that our grandchildren could hear about the first baby born on Mars!
Even worse, if Martians invade earth & we invade Mars I suspect that Planetary Wars will do considerably more damage than our world wars did.
Seeing as we are not that important perhaps Aliens, who can live in warmer climates, may be in their spaceship now & ready to invade Earth. OMG where is Doctor Who when we need him!
