Unless screwed down it could be stolen …

So the saying goes but this is ridiculous! What is happening to this country, a place where car and house doors were once left unlocked or open without the fear of anyone stealing anything? That may have been many years' ago but it's been going downhill since those long ago years.

No doubt someone, somewhere has a nice new patio!

"A council is reviewing CCTV footage after reports that a large section of pavement was stolen from a village in West Sussex.

Dozens of paving slabs were found to be missing in Storrington on Tuesday."

Grids and grates are something that the local pikeys have a penchant for around here Baz. They nick them to weigh in, heaven knows who accepts them though....
It's only the odd house that gets burgled, but plenty of cars go missing off drives, and there was a run on garden furniture a while back.

Back in the day we were all the same, and struggling to make ends meet. Neighbours were almost family and would look out and help each other, I knew the names of everyone in our crescent. Some fifty or sixty families. I don't know many people outside of our little cul-de-sac now, and it's more of a case of the haves and the have nots now.

Under the photo, it says:- "Horsham District Council is reviewing CCTV of the car park"

That might be helpful?

Re: Unless screwed down it could be stolen …

In the winter months, the tables in local restaurants now remove all decorative salt and pepper holders, oil and vinegar sets, and nice flatware because the snowbirds (retired winter tourists) steal everything not screwed. Motivation for this is because they are too cheap to purchase the items for their rental condos or they are bitter about the prices on the menu. On manager even told me that he caught an older woman stealing a picture off of the wall of the women's bathroom.

All I could think about were the molecules on that picture and how that seemed like karma enough. Ewww.

Here in the UK we tend not to pee on the walls. Well at least not in England, Wales, or Ulster.

Gee, not that....just molecules generally floating around in the air.

It's only visitors from a certain distant country that are known for destroying the bathrooms in the manner you describe.

True. Electric cables are prime targets for Pikies. A few years ago ours were lifted at Electricity substation at Christmas when my guys on holiday. Expensive to say the least...........

Re: Unless screwed down it could be stolen …

I seem to remember recently some Pikies nicking some heavy duty cables from a substation and got themselves electrocuted.

Had to deal with a major outage though.
