A proposed new royal yacht, I wonder where it will be built?

"A new royal yacht is to be commissioned by the government and named after Prince Philip, according to reports."

"It would be a successor to HMY Britannia, which was decommissioned in 1997.

The cost of building the vessel could be as much as £200m, with MPs calling for the ship to be built in the UK."

Will construction of this vessel go to a foreign company I wonder or will it be built in the UK so promoting this country and its shipbuilding around the world?

I am not sure a Royal yacht is necessary these days.

My father and mother really enjoyed the private dinner party they were invited to attend by The Queen and Duke on the previous yacht in the 90s.

Would it not be better if they just leased a Cruise Liner, tarted it up, used it for a month or two, then handed it back?

Or, maybe, take one of the newer RN ships, tart it up & use it as above?

They could part pay for it all by getting rid of those Red Sparrows aeroplanes.

They must be worth millions?

Somebody is looking for a peerage l expect ??
They won't get much for £200 million these days, We can prepare for
at least a 75% escalation ??
Then there will be the obligatory helicopter !!
Then the two escorting vessels !
Then the crews for the above !!
Then the once yearly survey !!
Then the five yearly refit !!
Then the. - - oh. F-----ck it !!!

I don't blame them.

What with all this disease around nowadays, lockdowns and stuff, we all need a royal yacht for an quiet weekend away.
