You are right Nom, unfortunately that is how these animals are seen.
In some countries the whole line up is considered food, even the domestic 'pets.'

Do we who eat meat pause to think of its source. ? Should we. ?

Are dogs and cats more important than cows or sheep, and did the advert have any effect even for a moment. ?

Perhaps no animal should be any more 'important' than another, it is still a life we've taken, a live soul who bore us no grudge, meant us no harm and we never even knew.
