Cheeky Magpie.

Watched this young bird on next doors washing line. Taken from my living room window & double glazing. Next door noticed & banged on their window, would have loved to have seen if it actually did manage to remove the peg.

Great photos Tiff, the magpie looked determined to ‘catch’ that peg

Thanks Mags, it was fun to watch, until next door spoilt it.

I haven't seen adults doing that though. The young were chasing each other too. There were three & two adults. The adults were eating.

The magpies around here are pretty vicious, watched two the other week from my balcony ripping into a baby starling.
Starling were flying around them trying to get their attention but no the baby was taken into the bush's and never reappeared.
Also seen a few ripping into a young pigeon in the park on my morning walks.
Then to top it off one had me laughing I was watching a pair of seagulls and a magpie on a neighbours garage roof.
Seagulls were one either end of the roof not facing each other, and the magpie landed in the middle and started sneaking up behind them and pecking at their tails.
Every time the seagull retaliated and chased the magpie into the middle.
Then the seagull would then return to the end of the roof and the magpie followed closely behind to start it all over again.
Yes I know I need to get a life but hey this is classed as excitement in Pitsea..

Me too Meg - last year a passing overhead seagull let go a shower of the mess all over one of my sheets. No way could I use that sheet again even though it would have been washed properly ..... ugh! just the thought of it!
