Yesterday in brief---9.20 set off from Oulton Broad -idea to drop OH at Peterborough railway stn then head to see Sis 12 miles west. 11.0 stuck solid on A.14 due to serious road accident. 1hr50mins later on the move -by now OH had missed only train for which ticket was valid-so Muggins now has to drive to Richmond -Yorks and back [with Grandson] Queues off traffic all the way on A1 from Blythe -net result got back home brain and body dead at 8.40 pm.

Sorry to hear that Chr1st1an.Car journeys on major roads seem to be a lottery lately. I quite understand roads closed for emergency services, air ambulance etc but sometimes the delays themselves seem dangerous to me. You were in no fit state to drive by the time you got home and there may have been people trapped who needed medication, young babies/children, the very old etc etc.
Seems you need to take emergency kit for every journey

)Where abouts was it this time?? the worst I can remember was between the Burwell turn off and Newmarket about 1hr something IIRC
but frequently the bit from Cambridge up to St, Neots had problems many times. After a days work in Manchester on a Friday sitting on the A14 at 10pm going nowhere is one of the things I was determined to get away from when I chucked the day job
