Poppies

When do you start to wear your poppy? Have you started yet? I think the start of November is early enough - though maybe a day or two earlier this year, as Remembrance Sunday is quite early, on 8th November.

Re: Poppies

There used to be poppy vendors on many corners downtown, but you rarely see them any more. We wear them here for what was once Armistice Day, now Veterans Day, and sadly seems to have lost its original significance.

Re: Poppies

That's a pity DM
I think it was losing a little significance with young people here way back in the sixties, when our world was calm and quiet and before the IRA started their nonsense but it has had a resurgence recently, for obvious sad reasons. Also, the loss of the last 3 WW1 survivors during the current year will add extra to this years remembrance

Re: Poppies

They've been selling poppies in the shop round the corner from me for over a week and there was a poppy seller in the shopping centre today.
I probably won't wear mine until next week though.
