Christmas wrapping paper

For more years than I can remember we've bought a cheap roll of brown paper and lots of pretty ribbons to wrap our presents for both Christmas and birthdays. I was dragging the roll out from behind the wardrobe and setting to wrapping what I've made up.

My husband is in the bedroom doing his wrapping too.

My reason for posting was, no need to buy thin and hard to use wrapping paper when you can buy a good thick brown paper and reuse most of it for a few years.

Only thing needs changing to make it look festive is ribbons and card saying who it's for, we make them out of previous years Christmas cards. Reuse what we can is our motto.

Anyone else a brown paper fan or do you all buy new Christmas paper each year ? noting wrong with that btw not IMO anyway.

Re: Christmas wrapping paper

I buy new but refuse to pay more than 50p a metre.

But I do like brown paper with pretty decorations as you describe, one of my daughters does this.
One year she bought some old music scores from a charity shop and used the paper for wrapping and to make paper stars!!
I'll see if i can take a photo, I've put them on the mantlepiece this year...

That's a good idea we used an old news paper of the year my mum was born one year for her birthday, just a brush of glue (I want to say pvc glue but that doesn't sound right) made the print stay put. Looked really effective we thought.

Re: Christmas wrapping paper

I have used brown paper with a festive craft stamp to embelish it.
I had a load of old sheet music given to me by my neighbour who had it out for recycling. I didn't use the originals though, I scanned it and printed it
I think I put a pic on the advent calendar of a wreath made from it

I buy wrapping paper after Xmas and put it away for the following year. The Factory shop in Wells is closing down so hopefully they will sell off stock cheaply.

We buy bits after Christmas too to use next year, it's amazing the bargains you can get.

I just couldn't bring myself to do that. I love Christmas but when it's all over, I just couldn't face anything until next year. In fact, I wish Christmas was every two years.

If I really got my own way I'd have Christmas every month first Saturday of each month of the year.

I could quite happily have the roast lunch every month.
