It was partiuclarly silly when Rita tried to drive the coach I thought.

At the end, I did wonder if it was the start of Ken's departure, he is in his 80's isn't he? Not many of us would still want to be working at that age.

All in all, a bit of a rubbish episode as far as I was concerned.
He is such a boring character - will anyone even notice if he goes?

Re: Coronation Street

I thought the programme was going to be about Rita’s departure originally as she is 86 now. The way she was reminiscing of the old days in the Rovers etc. It was a good twist to let it be Ken going instead. He 87, a year older than Rita ...... it would have been nice to see these two oldies go off into to sunset hand in hand together.

As if we don't have enough dead wood.

There are several characters who don't have any real part in the main stories. Padding!

Re: Coronation Street

I think the coach driver was an imposter! I just checked the route he should have taken from Weatherfield to Blackpool and it would have been the M60 north around Manchester, turning off at junction 15 onto the M61, continuing along the M61 and joining the M6 at junction 9...Remain on the M6 for a short distance past Preston to junction 32, finally taking the M55 West which would have taken them the rest of the way to Blackpool.... Even with bladder problems there are plenty of services en route, and the whole journey would have taken less time than it took to show last night's episode.....

And did Mary have the appropriate licence to drive a passenger vehicle? If not her insurance would have been void....

There are special licensing arrangements allowing you to drive minibuses and buses without holding the higher Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) driving licence entitlement. Drivers of minibuses having nine to 16 passenger seats will need to hold a PCV licence category D1 or a category D licence to drive larger buses.

Marge and I said exactly the same: "Why isn't he going on the motorway?"

And Mary driving the coach.

I think they call it 'artistic licence'!

Re: Coronation Street

How did the coach driver end up at Weatherfield General?
Why did Jenny open up Rita's delivery?
Why did she put it on the ground when exiting the coach? (Didn't you all guess what was going to happen? I did!)
And agree about Mary/driving.

Could have been worse. If Mups was driving the coach they would have ended up in Bristol.
