The brother was in the Royal Navy and travelled the world. Visited many US bases and the US itself. Always came home with piles of records which were left in my keeping. A lot of them were by artists never heard of over here.

I grew up to Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline et al.
Yes, a lot of them had drink/drug issues - but then our home grown artists were/are not exactly shining examples of moral rectitude!

Willie Nelson has written some really beautiful songs - for others (including Cash) as well as for himself.

I like Reba McEntire & many others. I found them all on CMTV when we had that channel here in Britain. I was gutted when they pulled it, I spent hours listening to it while doing housework.
