It most likely does. We've had a couple of deliveries in which the shop has utilised Uber. We know from experience that if we had used Uber to travel the distance involved (one way), it would have cost more than the delivery charge.

True. Mind you, if the chip shop were of such a capitalist nature, they would have enough in the bank not to worry about closing down the shop for a few months.

Re: Capitalizing on the situation

Hi

Yes, they do charge for delivery here as well.

Not a lot though and I am quite willing to pay it.

Guy was having a full English, 3 bacon, 3 sausage etc £7.50 delivered.

We have mini fish and chips with mushy peas once a week

It is the local chippy, not far away and the prices have not gone up.

Delivery is by a local enterprising teenager on her bike and you just leave a £1coin on your doorstep for her.

She bunches them together, so have to wait sometimes, but no great shakes.

She is doing A Levels and wanting some money for Uni.

And, the delivery was 27 minutes late, there should be some financial recourse on the delivery charge.

The delivery charge would not only cover the drivers wage but the vehicle expenses and fuel etc.

It is my duty to be ripped off, as long as it keeps the economy going, see, the reason it was 27 minutes late was because, delivery's aren't single entities, they are part of a route, so, I paid £2.95 for delivery from the previous address the driver attended which, for arguments sake might have been next door but one.

10 delivery's, one route, one hour = £30.00, not a bad hourly rate.
