The last few days.

Hi

Loads to do starting on Monday, old carpet and underlay lifted after furniture stacked up.

It all had to go in the conservatory and my bedroom as the kitchen was stacked with stuff from the side passage which was reroofed on Sunday.

After lifting the underlay, some of the thermoplastic tiles came up, which had to be sorted.

I had to sort that and paint the skirtings ready for Tuesday.

During moving the furniture out, the lads banged the lounge wall next to the hallway door and a hole appeared.

Someone had removed an air vent and instead of making good had simply papered over it with lining paper.

Carpet was fitted Tuesday late afternoon, a real struggle to get it in the lounge, too big to go through the window.

Broadband troubles, so on to EE, again.

Moved some furniture back in, Zac and Derek were late back.

Fridge in kitchen started leaking, just over a year old, so out of warranty.

Phone charger was not working, could not find usb cable to charge from laptop.

Broke modem connection to TV during refitting.

Yesterday, continued reconnecting the Rat's Nest of wiring, problems with Hue Hub.

Loaded car up with old carpet and underlay, well some of it, first load.

Set off for recycling centre, only a mile away.

Road closed with Police Incident, marked cars and ambulances, it was 2 hours before I got back.

Prat neighbours had parked up on part of my cross over and ripped up the grass with the van.

They refused to move.

The lodgers were not here, caught up in a Police Incident in Birkenhead.

That turned into a major row with neighbours.

Loaded up again this morning with carpet etc.

Got a puncture just before the level crossing.

Arrived back to find an email refunding me an order I have been waiting for for weeks.

No explanation.

It is a good job I have a sense of humour.

It sounds like a few days from Hell, Swimmy...

As you say, it’s a good job you have a sense of humour.

Re: The last few days.

Why accept that a 'fridge a little over a year old is out of warranty?
Fitness for purpose and durability are covered by the sale of goods act.
Perhaps trading standards may be of help.

Re: The last few days.

That is quite an adventure you've got going on there, Swimfeeders! It will be worth it in the end, and best of all, Guy will be walking around on that carpet in just a few days!

As for the warranty, I have had good luck getting manufacturers honor warranties that are close to the date. A few phone calls with the honey and sugar on hand just might do the trick.

As for the neighbors, just make sure you take photos in case this becomes a habit.

Press on!

'These things are sent to try us' as they say, Swim.

Perhaps it has all gone wrong at once, and the rest will be plain sailing now.

You said Guy was arriving on the 1st Dec. (Sunday).
Do you think you will be all ship shape in time?

Swimmy, I am sorry for your troubles but things can only get better.... l hope.

Volcanoes in Shropshire? I didn’t think we had volcanoes in England. Or, were you referring to the Wrekin?
