Re: Return of milk bottles !!

More glass for the yobs to smash, have enough trouble trying to avoid what there is now without more being added.

I thought that was why they delivered early in the mornings?
Our milkman was always finished around twelve and the floats
were insulated ?? But suppose different areas have different
problems ? But it's worth doing something to reduce this plastic
usage ??

The way I look at it is that if there's a reasonable deposit on a bottle then that would help.

Even if that's not the case, any improvement in recycling is better than non at all.

Watched a "how it's done" type of program on tv a few weeks ago in which either Denmark or Sweden have a recycling policy on it's beer bottles (many of which are sold in supermarkets, so it's not just pubs/restaurants). Seems to work pretty well.

Problem solved !
This cures both problems, the gone can earn some booze money
collecting the empties instead of smashing them and real people
can get cheaper milk by doing the same??
Now why didn't l think of that?

I wash out plastic milk jugs for recycling too, but would rather have glass bottles. You can do a lot with that once its cleaned up. Don't know about milkmen though....its a quaint idea from days gone by, but people were nicer back then. Nowadays his little float would get ransacked

On another thread (involving trash left by yobs after their day out in parks/beach), I also suggested that many other containers such as soft drinks bottles, crisp packets, sandwich boxes etc have a deposit attached to them. Suspect it would have a similarly potentially beneficial outcome.

And how does the cost compare ??

Donkeyman! 🤔🤔
Cost is 85p for milk. Fresh orange juice is in a glass bottle and it's a pint.
