Lucy the Human Chimp

Don't know if anyone saw Lucy the human chimp on Channel 4 but if you didn't I can highly recommend it. It's about a woman called Janis who has dedicated her life to Chimps, especially Lucy. I must warn you though if you watch it, it really is a very emotional documentary. What a marvellous woman. Made me have a very sore throat holding back the tears till I couldn't any longer.

Very moving indeed. I applaud that woman so unselflessly giving up a 'normal' life to conservation.

Re: Lucy the Human Chimp

This is not what I expected from the thread title! I thought it was going to be a show about "Lucy" the female hominoid Australopithecus afarensis discovered in the 1970s (I think). She was chimp size (under 120 cm - 4ft anyway)

Just saying not complaining.

Re: Lucy the Human Chimp

This has been on my mind ever since I watched it .
How cruel it was to send a chimp that had been brought up as an American child eating American food out to the jungles of Gambia .
The scientists for all that they loved her left her.
She would have probably been happier in a zoo in America where at least she would have seen people she thought she was human .
Incredibly sad.
