Re: ''Privacy error - your connection is not fully secure''

It seems that I encountered this some time ago and this is what I did:

Chrome - Enable/Disable “Not Secure” Warning

Google Chrome now warns users if they are visiting a page that is not protected via HTTPS as “Not Secure”.

If you don’t like this behaviour, you can disable it with the following steps.

1. Open Chrome, type chrome://flags/ in the address bar, then press “Enter“.
2. Type the word “secure” in the search box at the top to make it easier to find the setting we need.
3. Scroll down to the “Insecure origins treated as secure” setting
4. In the “greyed-out” box, enter “http://www.over50sforum.com”
5. Switch to “Disabled” in the drop-down selection box to turn off the “Not Secure” warnings.
6. To turn on the warnings, delete “http://www.over50sforum.com” and switch to “Enabled”.
7. Select the “Relaunch Chrome” button, and Chrome should no longer warn you of “Not Secure” web pages.
That seems specific - the non-specific solution appears to be:

https://www.technipages.com/chrome-e...secure-warning

  1. Open Chrome, type chrome://flags in the address bar, then press “Enter“.
  2. Type the word “secure” in the search box at the top to make it easier to find the setting we need.
  3. Scroll down to the “Mark non-secure origins as non-secure” setting and change it to “Disabled” to turn off the “Not Secure” warnings. To turn on the warnings, the other “Enabled” or “Default” settings can be used.
  4. Select the “Relaunch Chrome” button, and Chrome should no longer warn you of “Not Secure” web pages.
I've just checked and my setting is still "Disabled" .....

LD,

You might want to start here:-

"to ensure that you have the recommended settings for TLS, follow these steps:
Press Windows key + R to open a Run box. Type control and press Enter to open Control Panel.
Select Internet Options and open the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Security section and make these selections:
N
If the option to Use SSL 2.0 is present, it should not be...
Click Apply and OK.
Close Control Panel."

Worth a look!

Re: ''Privacy error - your connection is not fully secure''

I got a server error message this morning which said it couldn't load the webpage due to "an error which cannot be rectified by us - sorry" Apart from that, all is ok.

I've been getting error messages with Gmail recently. Scans show nothing wrong and error usually clears itself if I close Firefox and reopen it and Gmail.

These days I tend to use DuckDuckGo, a search engine that I have found is not quite as good as Google, similar but they don't track your searches, so not so much rubbish advertising 'tailored to your searches' which with Adblock also on suits me very well.

Edited to add, after reading other posts:
I am using an Apple Macintosh with Safari browser so perhaps using Microsoft / Chrome is more problematic? I have on odd occasions had the 'Not secure' warnings but experienced no problems in that respect.

Thanks Baz. If I can't sort this, I might have to change to another browser. Google is seriously peeing me off.

I also remember it happening before Omah, we were getting it between every post on this site but it was changed. I just did the above and mine also said 'disabled.'
