Even Barnier Doesn't Want Open Borders

Michel Barnier has called on France to close its borders to immigrants for up to five years and to renegotiate the borderless Schengen agreement with other EU member states.

The former chief Brexit negotiator in Brussels made the comments during a televised interview with France TV

“We must suspend the immigration for 3 or 5 years and you have to discuss Schengen with our European partners.”

Well l believe he is interested in running for president in the upcoming
French elections Bread ??
He is obviously looking for support from the anti immigration
voting public and thereby reducing La Penns vote ??

They say it because it is fact. Think he has his eye on the Presidency as you say DM.

Faced with the prospect of a Le Pen victory, on top of Brexit and the end of the Merkel era in Germany, we may see a more aggressive EU in the months ahead, hoping to hold together its disunited bloc lest others follow the UK to the exit.

If Brexit was a disaster for Brussels, a Le Pen victory could be the killer blow, at the very least standing in the way of future EU integration if not scuppering the entire project. Little wonder the French establishment is rattled.
Macron will get re-elected for sure. No strong opposition.

Thats why Barnier is so vocal about being anti-borders etc. He will run next year for the presidency against Macron and if he wins, the EU will have their man running France again and the French will have been fooled.
