Police order parents to clean up mess after teen party in Derbyshire

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-57313589

The force said a group of teenagers had gathered, without permission, on the grounds of Hilton Harriers Football Club, in Hilton, Derbyshire, on Saturday night and left rubbish scattered across the fields.

The neighbourhood policing team posted on Facebook they had encountered a "gang of testosterone-fuelled youths" who had turned the pitch into an "impromptu unofficial open-air party, leaving a trail of wanton destruction, litter and vomit behind".

Parents of at least four boys, aged 15 and 16, were called to the scene at about 22:00 BST, the force said.

"Rubbish bags were handed out by officers to parents and children to clear up the detritus," said the post. "A number of other youths who fled the incident can expect visits from officers in the coming days."

No-one was arrested and no fines were issued.

Blimey, some common sense for once. It'll never catch on.

Definitely not before time, perhaps the public is at last being listened to when complaining at how nobody seems to care about their environment these days!

Better still, make those who have created this mess now also forced to clean up after others who are of the same mindset, perhaps then they will know how it is for the majority having to tolerate all this rubbish left all over the place!

Saw a story today in which the parents of some children recognised their own kids on facebook (or some other social media) vandalising a local model village, and took them to it to apologise to the owners and get them to help with fixing things. The police also had a word in their lugholes.

Have said it before...any criminal ought to be made to make reparations in full (wherever possible) as a mandatory first part of any sentencing.

That's not being hard, that's called "taking responsibility for your actions", or "contributing towards your community to make it a better place for everyone!" I'm all for that
