Red Kite
Something of a rarity, but becoming more common, thank the Lord.The local farmer was cutting his grass for silage this afternoon, attracting this gorgeous raptor.

Thank you all for your kind comments.We are not too far, (as the crow flies), from the release point of a conservationist initiative that introduced these birds in Wales, so I'm not surprised to see wing tabs on this raptor, as I think it is a direct link to the re-introduction programme.
This was a lone bird and although a joy to see, I/we, have to remember that their numbers, although encouraging, remain tenuous.........they aren't out of the woods yet.
When I see half a dozen Red Kite wheeling in the sky as my sister does in Surrey, then I'll be happier.
