Disgraced multi-millionaire ex-Tory treasurer Peter Cruddas gives the party £500,000

donation after Boris Johnson over-ruled authorities to hand him a seat in the House of Lords

The Prime Minister sparked a croynism row last December when he over-ruled objections to make Peter Cruddas, dubbed the 'City of London's richest man', a peer. At the time he was estimated to be worth £860million and had previously given more than £3.5million to the party.

Figures released by the Electoral Commission today show that the banker and businessman, en-nobled as Baron Cruddas, poured the additional six-figure sum (£500,000) into central party coffers in February, days after taking his seat in the upper chamber.
Baron Cruddas is controversial because he quit as treasurer in 2012 after nine months following an undercover newspaper investigation into 'cash for access' claims. He was apparently recorded offering access to figures such as then prime minister David Cameron and chancellor George Osborne in return for 'premier league' donations in 2012.

The City tycoon denied wrongdoing and claimed his comments were just 'bluster'.

Labour Party chairwoman Anneliese Dodds said: 'The Conservative Party that brought us allegations of cash for access when Peter Cruddas was Treasurer seems to have turned its attention to peerages. Whether it's handing out taxpayers' money to their mates or giving peerages to disgraced donors, there is always one rule for the Conservatives and their chums and another for the rest of us.'

At the end of last year Cruddas was given a life peerage by Mr Johnson, despite its Appointments Commission advising against the move.

In a letter to commission chairman Lord Bew, the Prime Minister rejected the 'historic concerns' raised about Mr Cruddas. Mr Johnson said an internal Conservative Party investigation 'found there had been no intentional wrongdoing'.
Well, they would say that, wouldn't they ..... ..... he's greased their palms with millions of pounds .....

The Appointments Commission was unable to support the nomination owing to concerns over allegations made following an investigation by undercover reporters from the Sunday Times after he offered them access to the then Prime Minister David Cameron in exchange for £250,000 in donations.

Following the Sunday Times's story, Cruddas stepped down as co-treasurer of the Conservative Party. He would go on to sue the Sunday Times for libel, initially winning £180,000 in damages. The Sunday Times then appealed the judgment, with judges in the court of appeal reducing the damages to £50,000, after they ruled that the paper's central allegation of selling access to Cameron and other senior politicians were accurate.

The judges described Cruddas's actions as "unacceptable, inappropriate and wrong".
BJ later saw it differently:

"The most serious accusations levelled at the time were found to be untrue and libellous. In order to avoid any ongoing concern, Mr Cruddas resigned from his post, and offered an apology for any impression of impropriety, and reflecting his particular concern for integrity in public life."

BJ's penchant for lying used to be a joke when he was the Clown Mayor of London but his "antisocial" habit has now been caught by his cabinet, particularly "Soapy" Hancock, and is rapidly becoming standard procedure for cabinet members in order to rewrite parliamentary history for the minds of the gullible masses .....
