Food Poisoning.

Hi

I am not having much look.

Week before last got a very nasty type of food poisoning.

Self medication, fluids, Imodium etc did not work and lost so much fluid and electrolytes that I ended up in Intensive Care for 10 days with kidney failure.

The situation was complicated as I could not take my heart medication as my kidneys were not working.

I was discharged home last night direct from ICU as there were no Side Rooms available in local hospitals and I am still infectious and could not go on a normal ward.

I am still infectious, that is the nature of the beast, but getting better.

Thanks for those who have asked after me.

Hi

Some types of food poisoning are contagious, easily checked online.

The particular strain I got can even survive on surfaces for up to 2 weeks.

ICU Beds are in great demand, so bed blocking is not an option.

I feel for you Swimfeeders.

Your experiences remind me of a blast from the past.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Hi

Nope Judd.

No takeaways or out of date stuff at all, something of a mystery.

Flippy neck Swimmy, you are going though it aren't you? I can't remember the last time I had a real dose of food poisoning.

Re: Food Poisoning.

Wish you well, Swimmy. I have been in that situation. My illness was called infectious gastroenteritis and I was moved to first a side room with toilet, out of the way of A&E patients, then into my own room in AAU. Discharged after much needed antibiotics given and kicked in. A shame I then caught a rotten cold which spoilt the weekend away in Newquay I was then went on. I should have stayed in for one more night for a scan as they had suggested, and foregone the holiday.
