Delta variant feels more like a cold

This may explain why the Delta variant numbers are rising so quickly. In younger people it seems that this variant feels more like typical cold symptoms - headache, runny nose, sore throat. So they still go out, to school, to work, out with friends in the evenings etc, and spread the virus unwittingly, brushing the symptoms off as 'just a cold', and not bothering to get tested.

Thanks Bathsheba I was reading that last night....
A lot of focus has been put on the 'taste and smell' aspect but that no longer apples with the new variant.

I understand the Hay fever may also be confused with the Delta variant.

Yes, I can imagine hay fever would be confused with it - and we're slap bang in the middle of the hay fever season. I can just imagine the testing stations being overwhelmed with cold and hay fever sufferers. But better that than the virus going undetected.

Re: Delta variant feels more like a cold

We had a double glazing surveyor here late this morning to measure up our windows for replacement. He was sniffing and sneezing a lot so I asked him if he was suffering from hay fever. He said he was and, in any case, all his company's employees are Covid tested weekly (actually 1st thing this morning - he was negative, showed me his result).

Re: Delta variant feels more like a cold

So if the Delta variant is like a heavy common cold why are we unable to unlockdown the country. I know this varient is highly catching but if just a common cold why is the country tied up still

Serious question or have I got this wrong somewhere

Susan the C19 variant is not like a common cold, it now displays the symptoms of a common cold rather than the previous symptoms.

I've been hearing a lot of wracking coughs. Not normal for the time of year. Perhaps the vaccinated experience a cold like illness

Nb so far so good here. If going to B&M two days in a row hasn't infected me then I reckon I am well protected with the jab
