Can't say I've heard of or experienced that FF is less secure than other browsers - I've used it for many years without issue although saying that there was a problem with memory management at one time but subsequent updates have sorted that out.
ETA. There's two trackers on this page - Google analytics and Google Adsense both of which have been blocked by Ghostery.
