Same here Tabby, its a cheerful sound, and better than them moaning!
I used to be able to do those fingers-in-the-mouth, ear splitting whistles over the fields to call my dogs or attract someone's attention I wanted, I could whistle far louder than I could shout for them.
It don't come out quite the same these days though!

Ive never minded hearing workmen whistle a tune of give a wolf whistle..

Of course Im too old to get a wolf whistle now even if they were allowed..

A bit off thread but every now and then our parrot will let out a wolf whistle..
OH sitting in the garden last year and a couple of girls walk by, the bird lets out a perfect wolf whistle and OH got the dirty looks!

I'd never ban them. I just never get them
