50 years later

A friend has shared with me her wonderful story. When she was 25 she was to be married to her beloved fiance from Europe. Life happened and family intervention stopped the two coming together and they lost contact. She never forgot him, he never forgot her .

Fifty years on now 78, he made contact 7months ago having searched for her for two years. They are now living together and very much in love , and wish to be married. He tall and handsome still , adores her, she with sparkling eyes now smiles all the time. It's wonderful to see.

It's never too late .

A lovely story Susan. No, it's never too late. I love to hear nice happy stories. Too much doom and gloom sometimes. All the very best to them both x

Re: 50 years later

Lovely.
It's an interesting story Susan, my best friend at school was jilted by her fiance', also from Europe many years ago. She never heard from him again, and eventually gave up trying to contact him.
You say family intervention stopped the union and my brother-in-law who is Swiss German said he was sure that the young man's parents had disapproved of the union and forbidden it. They'd met over here when he was a student. He said that we had no idea how much influence parents could bring to bear still, just like in our Victorian age. If Papa said no then that was it!!
Lovely to hear this story has a happy ending.
