Black Helicopters

A flock of six of these has spent 15 mins circling low over our corner of the world.

Who are they?

Why are they here?

What are they doing?

If they were spying - to make sure we all stayed indoors - they failed because most of us went out to see what on earth was going on!!

Re: Black Helicopters

Wow! Never seen a black one, let alone 6, are they breeding?

Do you have a US army base near you?

Not that I know of, Tiffany. We have the 'listening station' at Menwith Hill - not sure if they have helicopters though.

Not well versed enough in aircraft recognition to say what make they were - but single rotor and about the same size as the Air Ambulance ones. They made one heck of a row - that's why people went out to look.

Our nearest RAF base is at Linton on Ouse (I think it is still there ?) - could they be a training flight?

Police_Helicopters

UK Police Helicopters (except the London Met) have now.all changed to an all black with a yellow top paint scheme. The idea being this is a high visibility design, working on the principle that it is easier to see a black helicopter on grey background than a mainly white version.

Chinooks? you can't mistake them with two huge over head rotors one at tghe back and one at the front. They even sound different with a thudding noise as they go along
