They are very good at aerating the soil.

How can you tell which is the head? You tickle it in the middle and see which end laughs.

Ask Mr Google, he seems to know most things.

Watch which way it moves across the ground, or your hand if you picked it up.
My daughter then aged 18 months ate one once, I made her spit it out on my hand, not knowing what she was eating. Yuck!

Re: Earth worms question

An ex boyfriend inquired if l had many worms in my garden and had l considered cultivating a Wormery. I thought it was an odd question until he said, he’d given up golf and was now entering in competition fishing.
The cheeky thing wanted me to start a Wormery for him to use the worms for his fishing, as they were expensive to buy!
What a nerve!

Re: Earth worms question

This thread reminded me of a trick we used many moons ago before fishing trips with my friends.
We'd make quite a strong solution of washing up liquid in a bucket full of water and pour it over a damp grassy area , wait a short while and hey presto!

Worms a plenty would wriggle to the surface and were gathered for bait. I've no idea why this worked, perhaps the liquid irritated them in some way, who knows?

We'd always give the little critters time to cleanse themselves in a bucket of soil, fish don't really enjoy the taste of detergent on their food as anglers on the forum would appreciate
