This one is a real pipe dream but I'd love to take the power boat level 2 course.
If I was younger I'd go for it.
The course itself would be affordable but it'd take an absolute age to save for a rib!
If you change your mind and get one these, and you are looking for a passenger.........go on then I'll come along.
I have actually got a fairly large telescope (still wrapped up in the cellar from when we moved) I never could work it out. Plus everything is upside down and back to front. I find binoculars are easier, especially for watching my sexy neighbour
Disgusting mate, what are we going to do with you???....
With more time on my than usual, I been thinking about new things I would like to try/do.
I have always wanted to try Fishing, fly fishing that is. Walking up and down river banks and lakes, getting away from all the hustle n bustle, seems very relaxing to me.
.
Funny you should mention fishing but it is a sport that seemed to me to be the epitome of boredom.
When I worked at a particular power station that got its cooling water from the local salt water lake I actually used to fish on the back shifts.
I got a couple of prawns out of the cooling water filters and spend a few minutes fishing with a hand line in the inlet canal. If I didn't catch a decent 300mm + Bream within a few minutes (often seconds) it meant I wasn't going to.
Anyway, because of this, I had most of the gear, weights, hooks, line etc and when I bought this house 40 years ago there were a couple of fishing rods in the attic. Within the last month I bought a book and a fishing reel with the intention of going fishing as it is al allowed pastime (with appropriate social distancing).
Haven't been yet but I am suitably equipped.
BTW I have seen the rods advertised on eBay for about $80 as "vintage"

Yes now thats something I would like too.
If I do get one of those (don't hold your breath) you'd be more than welcome! Mind you, if you'd seen some of my exploits on The Norfolk Broads you might have second thoughts.

Why fishing appeals to me, it seems a relaxing pastime, getting up early finding a lone spot by a river, watching the dawn break and nature waking up....sat down perhaps with a cuppa in hand sounds a good way to wind down.
Remember watching Rex Hunt fishing adventures, with the Australian locations, clear waters, sun, blue skies a bloody big fish that seemed a plenty, made great viewing, and probably attracted many a new fisherman.
Do let us know if you get the chance to try out your new rods.

Cheers...... Mind boating up and down the Norfolk Broads, at a slower pace mind, sounds pretty cool, enjoyable and relaxing too.
Many years my brother holidayed on the Norfolk Broad with Hoseasons, kept on about the toilet, apparently 3 ft off the floor it were, 30yrs later he'll still mention from time to time.. but now its over 4ft tall.
Bruce, if either of those rods are made by Grays or Hardy and are made of split cane, DO NOT USE THEM! Instead, get them to a specialist sports auction and sell them for a dunny-load of wonga, mate.

They are "Pre Stressed" fibre glass, they are only 40 or 50 years old. both Jarvis Walker rods this is one of them on eBAy
The other has the name of the rod missing but is Jarvis Walker too
Wow!
I'm glad you posted that link Bruce. Those ferruled, solid glass rods were pretty bomb proof as I remember.
My first rod was tubular steel, coupled with an Intrepid Black Prince reel.
Yes, it would be really interesting to read any of your updates!
