Tax the Wrinkles

Tax the Wrinkles!

Remember the "Eat the Rich" movement (and Aerosmith song)? It can be traced back to the original "Quand les pauvres nauront plus rien a manger, ils mangeront le riche" by Rousseau (Gawd the things you pick up from studying for an MBA)

Well there's a suggestion being well received to introduce asymmetric taxation whereby older people will be required to be taxed at a higher rate because of the costs resulting from the Chinese Plague because younger people need to keep more of their income and we're more likely to be more seriously affected by this monster.

And it's being pushed by a professor at Oxford and beng very well taken up all over the place.

From The Brussels Times :-

"Young people benefit the least from the lockdown measures, because they are less susceptible to the virus,” economist and professor Jan-Emmanuel De Neve told Belgian news channel VRT on Thursday. “The older generation should realize that young people are sacrificing themselves, both economically and in terms of mental health.”

Re: Tax the Wrinkles

I am unable to visualise this developing here in the UK while the Blue Rosette is in power, because many of their supporters are from the over 60 group.

I did think that perhaps us oldies could pay NI contributions but when I delved deeply into how the State Pension sum was arrived at, I discovered that this low sum actually takes into consideration no NI contributions are taken and therefore no convoluted NI levy needs to take place and thus no extra calculation costs are involved.

Re: Tax the Wrinkles

Whats more bonkers is the SNP proposing universal basic income of around £10,400 per person per year because of COVID-19.

Anything to get more people voting SNP. Did they say where the money was coming from to pay for this largess? An increase in taxation perhaps?
