In the case of aquired immunity evidence based on observations does not show that is a probability.

This is increasingly looking worse than feared.
It will weaken over time as more people are infected. It's like diluting a poison once it's widespread.

They withdrew that as fact. The data was based on many assumptions. That's the problem with predictions, they are reliant on various underpinning assumptions and that's why different studies are throwing out such conflicting results.

The King's app think about 20% of the population have been infected. Which is higher than other parts of the country but not sufficient for herd immunity. The King's professor made it clear that you cannot take that as fact and that you should look at all studies and make a judgement. The trouble is that this newspaper or that gets hold of one set of results and splurges it across the front page as fact.

The fact that viruses die out eventually proves that immunity does beat them in the end. And to say that immunity from covid 19 is short lived; How would they know, it's not been around long enough to find out Todger.

Quite right Annie, but the human body will develop antibodies to destroy any virus over time. Even snake venom becomes ineffectual after so much exposure. Best not to underestimate the power of the human body and override it's natural defences with vaccines and medication.

I was watching a programme about Ebola, thank heavens that didn't get here! I think it was called The Virus Trackers, interesting. Worth watching to understand how viruses mutate and how they need a host

The young and healthy may not get Covid19 but they can still carry it and pass it on.

Antibodies don't destroy it, they will hopefully weaken it over time as it loses the opportunity to replicate. It depends on whether the antibodies give sufficient immunity.

The trouble with this virus is that we don't fully understand it. This is a particularly nasty virus and people don't appreciate that. I'm saying that because firstly I had a conversation with a friend who described it as a "bad cold" (ugh!) and secondly the nutso protests that happened today in the UK.

I've heard a number of opinions tonight (real life) and I'm not impressed with how easily people are swayed by rubbish instead of facts.

It wasn't a minister. It has been dissected by scientific experts. There's a load of rubbish being spouted in the media. Government ministers are not excluded.

It works with flu strains. But when flu mutates you can catch it again. However, if you have survived flu you will have some immunity as the virus looks a bit similar. So you should get a milder illness. The only trouble is we don't quite know with this one. We are the guinea pigs!!
