Re: Memories of the 60's/ 70's.

You must be young Westender, if in 76 you were contemplating Fishing when the searing heat was causing young ladies to become scantily clad, and gather in public places, Ooh err missus.

It might be a coincidence, when the Hot Summer happened when it did, or it might not be.

I was fourteen Spitfire. In those days a six week school holiday seemed like an eternity, time to contemplate many different things.
Whereas now six weeks can pass in next to no time.

If I remember right, it was a bit like it is now, because the weather was good, folks did not want to go to work, back then at that age, I could understand why, the same goes for now, but for some, for different reasons.

I just remember always being out with my two sisters and we’d Party, Party, having such great fun but not enough sleep.

Bakerman, I saw EC in Sydney in 1975. I went twice in one week. The first attempt, he collapsed and had to quit the show. We were given a "second chance" a couple of night later and he managed to do the full show which was great. I think that was at the height of his heroin period. Saw him again in Sydney 12 or 13 years later and it was awesome. But I think my favourite period of his is still very early on when he was with John Mayall's Blues Breakers. I was 14 and had been playing for only a year when the seminal album came out with EC playing with them. The one with "Hideaway", "Parchman Farm" and "Steppin Out" etc. I spent hours and hours learning those numbers. I had the licks eventually but I could never get that Les Paul sound with a Rickenbacker and a 10 watt amp. Haha. Too fruity. Our Mr Longdogs will relate to that.
