Don't you think if the Conservatives were going to privatise the NHS they would have done it years ago when they had the opportunity? There might be a case for some some sections to be run privately but a full blooded privatisation would never be allowed.
Nor will any government be able to make any really big changes to the NHS system because of the vested interests of unions, management doctors etc, all protecting their own little fiefdoms. Not unless there is a drastic change in the attitude of the electorate.
Its not just the NHS where this attitude prevails. Mention Fracking, High Speed rail links, the Police Force, Housing or any other proposal to change the status quo and up pop the protest groups with their banners and marches to hinder and stand in the way.
A government with a tiny majority such as the present one cannot afford to ignore such groups and so every proposed change gets kicked into the long grass. What a way to run a country.
