I used to call Cousin Win Auntie, because she was my Dad's cousin & his generation. When I grew up I called her Win, she asked me to. She was 98 when she died, still looking after herself but she had a private carer, who came regularly.

I agree with this being called Aunt/Uncle by what are cousins once removed (and further) seems appropriate. For my cousin's children to call me Uncle seems far more satisfactory.

Yes Bruce, it's more polite if the kids are young. When they grow up, you can change it if you want to.
