Is editing worth doing?

Just thought I would post what editing can do to a photo

Looks terrible with all those cables across the photo, so I removed them

to me that looks a lot better cleaned up and a little bit of work as well apart from removing the wires

...... but then it’s not a true picture is it?

I also think the bright colours look very unnatural.

Mags
How many photos have not been edited to a degree? The question is in this case do I want to show the building as it was built or how it is now with horrible cables across it.
Just my personal choice.

Take a look at photos of water for example, most have been smoothed out with a long exposure, is that not unnatural? Or photos that have had filters on the lens to alter the look? it is all a form of distorting from the original. or sharpening a photo or removing an unwanted object.

You could compare it with a woman wearing makeup. is that the real face or altered to improve looks? I rest my case

I agree Mags in fact I am a fan of black and white photographs.

I think most pics can benefit from a little extra contrast and saturation. That's just a little too much that's all but it could be that our eyes view things differently.

I do sometimes but that is usually limited to cropping to remove extraneous stuff that has no relevance to the subject in question or detracts from it. Or information like images of people who would rather not be included.

This guy wanted to be included - for a fee!

Re the OP .. good idea to remove the cables ...

But first job would be to fix the perspective ... buildings L & R are leaning.
