Cooking now are my roasties, tats, sweet tats and parsnips. Cauli cheese next to them in the oven. Broc and carrots in saucepan. These will accompany roast beef (processed slices, admittedly, cheaper), and yorkies.

Re: What are you having for lunch/dinner?

Yesterday in Tesco I picked up a little plastic bucket thingy which held about 40 cooked cocktail sausages and was reduced to 25p. Original intention was to give to son to nibble whilst he played his computer games. But he suggested I bung 'em in a toad in the hole. So that's tonight's dinner, with creamed spuds, sprouts, carrots and onion gravy.

Oh and talking of gravy, you know those times whe. You grill lamb chops so there are no meat juices to make a lamb gravy? And furthermore no one makes lamb 'granules'? Well a few weeks ago I spotted in Tesco (shelf with cubes etc) a pkt of three little pots of what looked like those stock pot thingies, but for lamb. So grabbed a pack thinking would come in handy.

Well the other night we had lamb chops, grilled, and remembered those stock pots so decided to try them out. Well! they are not actually stock pots. It looks like marmite or similar. A thick dark, very lamb smelling goo. Simply add to cold water, bring to the boil. Let me just say it actually produces a quite tasty gravy. But, must warn, it is both very dark, and very thick. I actually added lots more veggie water, and a dollop of milk to lighten. For the price though it works quite well

Oh wow, there were actually 60 teeny sausages in the tub (original price £3), but as son had actually had a pick there were a few less, but not many, so the toad in the hole was choc a block with them, came out quite lovely too
