More people should get a dog

Just 20 minutes exercise a day can have a profound effect on your health

I feel sorry for the dog if people think 20 minutes a day wuld be enough!

I have two dogs and walk for a minimum of 1.5 hours per day...

There is no reason why people can't just walk for 20 minutes or more, no need for a dog at all.

Yes,I agree,I've said much the same thing in the 'do You want to be called fat' thread...But I'm not going to go as far as getting a dog..I picked up dog poo every day for 15 yrs...enough already :~)

Re: More people should get a dog

I heard on the early news this morning that walking each day is important for health and I was thinking the same thing Azz as I battled in the dark through the rain and wind with Chloe at 7am this morning while the rest of the village seemed to be in bed

It was gratifying to know I was at least doing my body some good

I hate the cold too much, which is why I stick to an indoors class or a swim.

I walk back and forth from the computer table to the sofa a good few times a day - oh and back and forth to the toilet and kitchen. Must cover a good 5 miles or so in a day.

Re: More people should get a dog

No you can walk without a dog no need to bring more dogs into the world or the idea people will get one thinking all it needs is a 20 minute walk. Biggest responsibility I have ever had (other than the kids) has been my dogs and sometimes I am not sure they aren't a bigger problem to deal with everyday. They need so much more than a 20 minute walk I am quite shocked a dog owner would suggest people get one for that reason
