Flavours that are made to go together!

What about all those things that you love to eat together - and maybe you can come up with a few surprising ones that we'll all have to rush out to try ..... ?

Bacon and tomatoes

and here's my surprise ...

raspberries and fennel

Re: Flavours that are made to go together!

Classic ones like white fish and citrus
white fish and fennel
tomato and basil
etc etc

Unusual ones
ham and banana make a nice sandwich filling
dark chocoate (unsweetened - or a little cocoa powder) adds a certain something to a chicken casserole
strawberries with black pepper

I'll try to think of others. Great thread

(angie - raspberries and fennel - how? Raw/cooked? Fennel bulb/fennel seed?)

Oh - talking of chilli, Purbeck Ice Cream used to make a chilli ice cream (half ice cream/half sorbet if the truth be told) which made a fabulous and different starter if served with a few nice prawns
Oh yes - here it is Yummy

Just a fresh raspberry picked off the cane and popped straight into the mouth with a few new fennel feathers - mine just happen to be growing next to each other!
