Indeed. A few dozen "parkrunners" would bother no-one, but 300 "parkrunners" weigh 20 tons and a truck that size would certainly impact on park paths.
However, for example, Edgehill University's "Parkrun" takes place on a new campus fitness & conditioning trail and is still free because many of the other facilities are chargeable so any "wear and tear" is already provided for:
