Oh sorry. Yes I separate the strips, they wouldn't cook evenly otherwise.

Hmmm.... perhaps an open-faced bacon sandwich topped with cheese and sliced apple then put under the broiler for a bit...

Exactly! My brother-in-law just stirs the mess around and it's really unevenly cooked. I'll be going camping with them in July and I think I'll volunteer to cook breakfast.
